2022: OUR PHARADOX YEAR REVIEWED

As we ended 2021 announcing our cooperation with Genecis, we started the year with the announcement we were going to cooperate with China based Bluepha as supplier of PHA grades. We are looking forward to extend this cooperation in 2023 further!

And in February our second Engel injection molding machine arrived for further testing and development!

Enmat Y1000P PHBV has been a product Helian Polymers has been distributing for 15 years. In the past few years we have seen how it has become a very popular PHA grade and we were happy to announce that it was awarded both OK Compost Home and OK Biodegradable Marine certifications by TüV Austria. It remains an ever popular material, even more so in 2023, which keeps being shipped from our warehouse.

Speaking of Enmat Y1000P, it is one of the grades we offer as samples in a unique cooperation with GO!PHA. This year GO!PHA started a sample shop which will be expanded in the new year further. Stay tuned.

PHA materials are nice (and very necessary!), but what are they worth if we can't make the right applications from them. This year we have seen the release of the Happy Cups re-usable festival cups as well as allPHA 3D printing filament by colorFabb.

More amazing applications are currently in development and we hope we can share more in 2023.

We kept innovating on the material side as well. No less than 18 PHA grades are developed and ready to order, lowering the threshold for application development ever further. Our PHA has also proven to be an ideal basis for glass fiber reinforced compounds, as witnessed by our cooperation with Arctic Biomaterials.

And how about blow molding? We have made very successful trials making bottles with bespoke PHAradox grades!

The big one

The biggest event within our company was something that may have been missed by many. In the summer of 2022 we started to phase out our masterbatch business to focus solely on the development of PHA compounds and distribution of various PHA grades. This was huge for us since masterbatch trading has been our bread and butter for many years. The demand for biopolymers, however, made this the only logical choice for us and so far it has been a great choice.

 

The team, the company and sustainability

In 2022 we expanded our team with Nydia, Shirley and (back again) Chris. We could say "completed" our team, but we have more people coming in in the new year. As the opportunities present themselves and exciting developments keep happening, more people are needed to make our sustainable mission a reality. We'll never be complete, but always growing.

Sustainability does not only apply to our materials themselves. We look further. We ensure we have fun in the work we do, take our time off, have regular #teambuilding days and make sure the work gets done. What work? Here is what we do in less than a minute:

2023

What's up for the new year? The same? That, but more and better and lots of new things. Obviously we will share what we can on this very LinkedIn feed. We have more team members, lots of exciting projects to work on, a new website, but the same mission: to help our customers make the transition from traditional petrochemical raw materials to PHA based alternatives. We make your #sustainable material needs a reality.

But first we take a break. As of Friday we will be closed the remainder of the year and be back in the office on Monday January second.
